Ole Miss Football: Breeland Speaks Press Conference (7-24-17)

You know, kind of gave a fun speech and everything, it seems like you would be a cool guy to play for, him being elevated in his role a little bit, what do you think he’ll bring to the defensive side of the ball, what are the best qualities about him? I love Coach McGriff, he’s a great coach. I feel like him being elevated, I feel like he’s going to take our team to another level because we are used to just having him on that defensive side of the football, now he will get to interact more with the whole team. And I feel like just his mindset and the way he is is going to help us out a lot with basically everything. Last season there was some deficiencies on defense, what are some things that Coach McGriff has given you guys? And what has happened to make the defense much better this year versus last year? He’s given us the ability to just sit back and play, he’s simplified the defense for us, not too much is in, guys can really just play ball, focus on making their reads and just doing that, just playing football. How much are you guys just looking forward to getting on the field and playing football and kind of stop talking about this outside noise? That’s our main focus right now, guys are really just ready to get on the gridiron and basically just let everybody have what we’ve been taking. Are there any more questions for Bree? Anything on top? Same question we’ve been asking all of the guys, what was your initial reaction when you heard Coach Freeze was stepping down? Just shocked, shocked. Secondly, I will try this again, so at SEC media days, you were talking about the change in culture in defense and you said, you don’t want to answer to the crime dog. Yeah. What did you mean by that? Like I said, that’s one of the toughest practices I’ve been through, he’s just Army mindset and it’s his way or the highway and you don’t want to be on the other side of crime dog. Breeland what kind of coaching person is Coach Luke? He is passionate, that’s the best way I can explain Coach Luke, very passionate. He wants his O-line to be the best O-line in the nation. He wants his offense to be the best offense in the nation. He wants the best. He’s passionate. He’s a Rebel. I love Coach because he gets out there, he doesn’t mind the grind. He doesn’t mind getting your hands dirty, that’s just how Coach Luke has always been.
